Sry been away for a few. I am a Pro shooter and a lot of my work is with a MFDB so I am using a "color managed" raw workflow and I am familiar with x-rite passport colorchecker, color temp, grey cards, mixed lighting scenes etc. For smaller jobs I use the D200 or D7000, in regard to earlier comments or questions......
1) Calibrated monitors
2) Raw workflow
3) I am well versed in Picture Control and it has helped somewhat - what I would really like is the D2X mode picture controls to work with the D7000 but it does not appear to work (Am I missing something? ).
4) I have used the WB "Color Chart" (where the * appears next to WB)
5) I have used color cards, grey cards, expo disk etc setting white balance....colors from MY D7000 are not accurate - I shoot a lot of interiors and nearly all have a magenta cast, On outside sunny days Auto WB or Manual it is consistently cool.
6)Created custom camera profiles with x-rite passport color checker
I can get a good file out of the D7000 most of the time but the colors always seem off out of camera to me where the D200 seems to me spot on in the same situations every time.
Anyone know how to get the D2Xmode Picture control working on a d7000? Perhaps I am doing it wrong, although I can create and load my own without trouble.
I do appreciate all the responses to the post...I just wanted to give a little more back ground of my situation and be more specific on what i have tried so far. I have rented a D3X and D700 before for short jobs and never had the color cast I am seeing...Is it possible there is a problem with the color metering on my D7000 ? is it something Nikon can check and calibrate ? or...... Is it possible I am just an overly critical, nit picky and obsessed photographer ? LOL
