I recently did a firmware update to 2.01 on my D200. Now the camera is with Nikon Repair. I followed all the instructions to the letter (full battery, not handling the camera while updating, first Firmware A then B, etc.), but things went horribly wrong. The Firmware A was put on a formatted 8 GB card and I initiated the process of updating. The message I got on the LCD was "This will take a couple of minutes. Do not switch off your camera". After a short time the LCD got black and after an hour nothing more had happened. The only thing that was shown in the small top lcd was "PG Up". Nikon support told me to switch the camera off and see what had happened. The camera did not react to anything, totally dead. The 3 times before I uploaded photos from the D200 to my computer, using Nikon's PictureProject, the connection was 'broken' and I had to restart the process of uploading. Could there be any connection to the failure of Firmware Updating.
Bottom line being : Nikon will charge me around 400,- euro's. while the camera still is in the guarantee period. I can't believe what they told me. Does anyone else have such experiences.
