My new camera arrived, and I had the chance to examine it in the sun.
There are no streaks on the back of the LCD glass on this body, but there is a bit more dust between the glass and LCD than on the previous body. However, the dust can't really be seen except when using a very bright light (I use a Surefire flashlight) to examine the lcd/glass.
The dust isn't visible under normal lighting, so it isn't a big issue for me.
After cleaning the LCD, I put on the GGS protector, and it is a perfect fit for both the top and rear LCD.
If/when Nikon offers replacement parts for the D300 to the public, I may be tempted to take off the factory glass to clean out the dust, but only after reading a few success stories on the Internet first!
