None of the wireless remotes I have seen need the hot shoe. Most wireless receivers have a foot that allows them to be mounted in the shoe. This foot is for convenience only; none of the receivers must be placed in the hot shoe and most will easily hang from the cord connecting them to the 10 pin socket.
