I apologize if you know this already.

Is your monitor color managed? If you're looking at it on an Apple Display for example, those puppies have a factory set luminosity value that is way bright right out of the box - so this could help explain why things look ok on your computer.

Also when posting to the web, it's usually a good idea to convert to sRGB. If you post as RGB, colors can appear dulled.
