I am considering a three month cruise on a tall ship around Australia, and then to New Zealand. http://www.barkeuropa.com/>
I own a D3s and a D3x. The D3x is limited to tripod use; it doesn't have the ISO capability of the D3s, as we all know. Should I bring it? I will bring a tripod.
The D3s is fine for action and low light, but it does not have the pixels of the x. I don't understand all the technical details but I know that if I crop much I lose resolution and can't print a big image.
With this in mind, I am considering purchasing the D4. There are some things I don't like about the D4:
1. A different battery. (how's the battery life on the D4?) 2. A card slot for an odd CF card. (What are your thoughts on this strange CF card? Does it require a special reader? Can a Nikon repair facility replace that one with a normal CF slot?)
Is 16MP enough?
I want to have two FX bodies with me, each with higher MP than on my D3s.
What are your thoughts on the D4 for a tall ship cruise around Australia and a few weeks on the ground in New Zealand?
