Note: I initially posted under sports but only got one response- And I have updated this w/ some additional info.
I am looking to better understand the options available and what might be better settings to shoot sports. I am shooting baseball, softball, soccer, and this weekend track and field at the high school level.
Right now I am struggling w/ my focusing, specifically keeping things in focus. I think it has to do w/ my understanding and use of my camera and the settings I have selected.
I shot a soccer game where my focus was not reacting fast enough and after the game I recalled that I had set the focus lock on "normal". So I changed that and set it to "off". But, a lot of shots that I would have typically nailed were off last night in a baseball game that I shot.
So now I am rethinking all of my settings and wondered if any experienced sports shooters would share w/ me what they use and possibly why?
Camera- D4 and D3s Lenses- 200mm 2.0 and 70-200 2.8 with 1.4 and 2.0 TC
1. AF- Continuous 2. AF Lock- Initially set to "off", (I'm going to use #2 setting) 3. Number of points 11 (originally I was at 51...) I don't know if this matters as much. 4. AF-C 9 points 5. Focus-release or Release-Focus (This is one setting that I would really like to know more about- In my head either makes sense, but I am thinking there is a specific benefit to one over the other.)
