Bob, I've had it a few weeks. It worked fine when I received it. Haven't used it much yet but picked it up the other day and noticed the switch had lost the spring-load. If you move it to the lamp position, it activates the lamp and when you move it back to the ON position the lamp shuts off. Doesn't seem to move to the LAMP position accidentally, thus battery drain doesn't seem to be an issue.

You do raise an excellent question about the refurb. I have no idea what is checked, changed, fixed, etc during the process and if the power switch spring is something thats changed during refurb. I would suspect not, unless it was broken prior to refurb.
