One of my good friends has a D2X and gets marvelous photos from it. He just understands its limitations and how to use it. He says that after ISO-1200 the noise really picks up fast.

We were at the Baltimore Aquarium a couple of months ago, and for that he left his D2X at home and borrowed a D4 from me. We needed an ISO of 3200-4000 there.
