It's hard to determine what the problem was. Apparently the files copied into the PC fine? As in, have you looked at all of the files and made sure that they can be fully read? (Say, processed by LR, Photoshop or NX2, etc?) If so, I'd guess that the problem was a connection error between PC, cable and camera or card reader. It could even be an operating system problem!

I will say that the one (1) shot that I have lost to a CF card problem was also on a Kingston Ultimate card, but that was one frame out of about 162,000, and Kingstons were the majority of my cards for more than half of those frames.

On the other hand, CF cards aren't terrifically expensive these days.
