"Menu...Setting...Save/Load Settings...Save Settings" will save a long list of personalized settings to a file named "NCSETUP9" (without the quotation marks, of course) on the memory card, or to the memory card in the primary disc card slot if you have more than one card inserted. You'll get an error if the disc is full.

Check out page 356-357 of the D4 manual for a list of what the D4 saves.
