Storage is not a problem for me. So I start out with the largest, greatest bit depth, least compressed, file format.

On my D4, that's FX, NEF, 14-bit, uncompressed, with a large JPEGn at optimal quality backup.

I'm still trying to get my wee brain around Nikon's concept of "Lossless Compressed." They claim to be able to reduce file size by 20-40% using a reversible algorithm.
