Sorry to hear about the bad experience with your D800e, but glad you have found an affinity with your new D4. I too have a pro body (D3s) and used to own the D7000 as my backup. I was disapointed with the D7000 so used the D3s most of the time when the shoot counted most. I recently purchased a D800 and just returned from 2weeks cruise to New Zealand. I mostly used my 18-300 zoom with it. My keeper rate has tripled and the quality of the D800 is to be seen to be believed. I am printing A3 prints with impunity and cropping heavily and have just sold my D7000 and DX lenses.
My D3s is now relegated to backup. I guess the only downside is the file size. I am extattic about my kit now and believe I have the right combo. I don't think I will upgrade to the D4 but if it is as good or better than the D3s, it must be one hell of a camera.
