I agree...even though I love 35mm/FX/full frame, I find DX very useful for sports. I don't have a 300/2.8 at my disposal, so when I need f/2.8 (which is often), I have no choice but to use the 80-200. On FX, I wouldn't be able to frame nearly as well...there would be a lot of dead space. There's something to be said for learning to frame sports images properly in the camera, rather than relying on heavy duty cropping of every single frame. I've been practicing this for over a year now. With DX, it's more doable when shooting night or indoor sports with a shorter lens like the 80-200.
But...since my budget is limited, I can only buy one body. So it's going to be an FX body. I still have the (3) older DX bodies for use in good light.
