I've been watching the XQD and CF cards for a while.
I have the 16 GIG Sony Series H XQD card that came with the D4, plus a second 32 GIG Series H card. B&H lists them with read/write speeds of 125 MB/s. Currently, the 32 gig card is $168.28.
B&H has 32 gig Lexar 1000x CF (145 MB/s) in Pairs for $249.95 ($125 ea) on sale until Jan 31.
The new Sony 32 Gig Series S XQD card is $258.95 with a speed of 168 MB/s. It is a little faster than the Lexar 1000x, but more than twice the cost.
I just purchased a D800, so adding a pair of 32 gig 1000x CF cards that can be used in either body was a relatively easy choice. My previous fastest CF card was a 600x (90 MB/s)that had been in the second slot of the D4. Now, I will select the 1000x CF card as the first one and the 32 gig XQD card in the second slot.
Like everyone else here, I'd like to get a USB3 combination CF/XQD/SD reader.
