Just asking: - Isn't the A99 only 6fps? - and the A77 is only pulling 12 bit RAW so it's hobbled in the same way the D300 achieved 8fps and D3X achieved 5fps?
Also a sideline topic but the D5 I think is an interesting break point - is it going to continue the D3, D3S, D4 lineage of Nikon sensors or will they go with the Sony architecture once and for all and the higher 24/36 mp range. But I'm probably thinking too small, by then there may be a further twist or several.
I also wonder, I think the fps constraint right now is getting the data off the sensor (not the CPU required after that step to do the image processing processing). So we could add all the EXPEED 3 and 4's we wanted and we'd still butt up against sensor data throughput I think.
I'm thinking the Aptina V1 sensor has some kind of completely different fast off-sensor architecture that still even now kicks butt. For example that 60fps mode at 10mp.
