Your chosen settings are incorrect.

To use "back button focusing" Custom Setting a9 should be set to "AF-ON". What you've got will cause the button to lock focus (i.e. stop trying to focus), not initiate it.

But as Luke says, the most important thing is that you must set Custom Setting a5 to "AF-ON only". That is what tells the camera to use the AF-ON button (and not the Shutter Release) to initiate AF.

Custom Setting c1 is not relevant to AF.

Check pages 298-301 and 305 in the camera manual for more details.
