ALL vertical controls have the same feel as the corresponding horizontal ones.

ALL directions of the multi-selector have the same feel and sound (low volume click).

ALL directions of both sub-selectors have the same feel and sound.

If everything is working correctly you could wait until it's more convenient to have your camera repaired, unless Nikon can turn it around quickly. But it seems that you do have problems that you should have repaired within the the warrant period.
