Under the shooting menu, at the end under "Live View", I think you have "silent" selected. When selected it shifts to JPG's which are scraped from the video (i.e. they are low resolution) at a whopping 24fps. Very cool, a movie in stills.
Is that what you are seeing?
I tried it both ways, "Quiet" and "Silent" - the quiet is just shutter motion and is real NEF's (if in raw), but he "Silent" is always JPG.
