Thanks Wally for the link above, I place the greatest stock on Rob Galbraith's information. Good to see and hear his impressions.

Regarding choosing a D800E vs. D4, that is indeed a tough one! D4 of course can do it all and is favoured in highest of high ISO (~6400 and up), ruggedness, speed, responsiveness, unfillable buffer, and probably a small nod on AF too.

If these areas are of most importance to you, then D4 it is

Coincidentally I saw my first side by side D4 and 1D X IQ comparison here and it is a relief to see Nikon still holds the IQ crown over Canon:
