The easiest way to test the cards without a test bench is to place them in a known-good camera and see if it fails. You have the card numbers and (I assume) a known-good camera. If you can smell the short it is often easy to find the hot spot but a short may take out adjacent electronics. Is it worth an additional 866USD to find out your card was bad?
I shouldn't assume and maybe I missed it - does the camera work correctly after the repair?
