Thanks for your reply. From afar the images look good until you blow'em up to 1:1 and that's where you see the eyes are not in focus at all. Did you noticed the granite in front of the black fox is in focus? I've been getting excellent results with my 600mm using the D3s but I know what you mean. I am certainly going to test my D3s on the Datacolour lens calibrator cause I think it needs a little bit of a tweak.
I've attached another image that I took with the D4 last night. This time with the 70-200. The focus point was on the sign, VR on at 1/125 @ 5.6. AF-S - 'S'.
You be the judge but what I see is an image out of focus by a mile.
