Hi:

The D1 uses a DX sensor which is smaller than FX sensor (or 35mm film) and thus has a "Crop Factor" of 1.5, Field of View (FOV) is another term relating to the same subject.

Nikon did not introduce a Full Frame (FX) sensor until the advent of the D3.
