>4X would be wonderful but what about the following: >First, I see very little comments regarding video for D4 (or >D800). What does everyone say about this? Is it really >necessary?
Necessary? Yes. In order to keep prices reasonable, very necessary.
>Second, More pixels are wonderful too but not if you have to >set the camera on a tripod like the D800 or have one of the >most steady hands around. I'd settle for 21 or more MP if it >will take tack sharp photos and still show as such when >cropped.
My D800 has been on a tripod once to do some controlled testing. That is likely the last time it will ever see a tripod. The continued propagation of this misinformation does the community a great disservice.
>Third, got to keep that FPS rate. >Conclusion: I'd go for the D4 now if it had at least 21MP. >16MP is just not enough resolution for $6K.
I had hoped to see the D4 at ~21MP. It didn't make it, and I cancelled my pre-order. At this point, I am not really interested in any more FX cameras with less MP than the D800, and I am not intrested in any more DX cameras with less than 24MP. The only exception to that is the potential use of used D7000s as my remote cameras.
If the D4x comes in above 36MP and with 6fps or more, I'll buy one. If the D400 comes in with at least 24MP and 8fps, I'll buy a pair of those. Other than that, I'll be snapping up sub $1k D7000s as remotes.
