"cast and f stop issues with D1X"

I set up my studio and started working with the camera. I calibrated my meter with a someone. That was fine.

This is in color.

I set up the main light with a reading say of F8...I set the camera on manual...same as the main light. The shot came out dark and muddy. I set the camera at 5.6 and it was fine...except for the blue cast.
I went outside and performed the same in ambient light. The same result.

I called Nikon tech support and I was told that one, that you will get an underexposure (I assume that it would be in manual mode)and you have to open your lens because that is inherent in all digital cameras.

The blue cast is also an issue with digital cameras. This is not a cheap camera...can this be correct?
