YES! The D2Xs is superior in every way except low light capability to the D300 and a like new low click one is now cheaper.
I tried the D300 with battery pack/ vertical grip and it is heavier and less comfortable and still does not perform as well as the D2X. It has been resold and I am keeping my D2Xs as backup instead.
