The D1 series cameras respond in the near-infrared: the anti-aliasing filter in front of the CCD has the additional effect of blocking longer wavelengths so they don't affect the image.

Larry Mulvehill has some B&W example shots taken with the D1. It seems reasonable to expect that the D100 will behave in a similar way, so all you'll need will be a #87 filter.

This is one of those things I keep meaning to try myself. One day...
