I didn't really read it that way. I took the point as being that if you were restricting the size of your prints to A3 at the largest then the D60 was capable of giving you results that were getting close to what you'd get from medium format. And he does freely admit that he'd use Genuine Fractals to "increase" the resolution of the image for prints over 13 inches wide.
So you can get good looking A3 images from a 6MPixel digital SLR - that's just about what we all expected. What you don't get, as you said, is the possibility to crop drastically or make really large prints.
