MicroDrives one's manufactured by IBM are popular. Heard Omega (guessing at name) is reduced in price, omega still made by IBM.
Theres some high capacity ultra speed CF typeI cards. The Higher rate of file transfer is very noticable. Notice the speed during continous frames, clearing the buffer for more shots. CF TypeI is solid state, no moving parts, can take rougher (dropping) treatment, keep on ticking. Cost per mB of storage is higher$$ then Microdrives.
Digital Wallet has new model for portable HDD storage. Old models can be gotten at good prices. With a D1X, probably need an extra battery for the Digital wallet
In the field , with two cards and a digital wallet can keep taking thousands of pictures. Batteries become the limiting factor.
