Don't tear me a new one, since this is just a rough guess here but I am guessing that they are not using the Firewire strictly due to cost for the consumer, IMHO. If the D100 is based upon the N80 the average consumer most likely is a PC based user as opposed to Mac which is used more-so by pro/high end users. I have found with my little part time seasonal job selling digital camera and computers at Circuit City that the majority of consumers do not have a firewire port. IEEE 1394 is not doing that well i nthe general consumer market even mroe so now as consumers lean heavily towards USB 2.0 Again IMHO, if the D100 is more sonsumer orientated and less pro orientated, I-tripple E would push more consumers away. Just a little inside info, Circuit City is talking about carrying the D100 with no proce set, but plan to sell it to the consumer market, and are gearing to carry it to replace the aging Olympas E-10.
