Hi everyone, I am kind of new here (posting wise) but have been a loyal reader in these kickass forums since sometime ago.
I sent my D100 in for some checkup (CCD problem) at my local Nikon service center and to my surprise, my firmware was flashed to v2.00 (without my knowledge). I actually discovered this when I was post-processing my work a day ago.
Here are some pics of the new firmware (on the D100 LCD):
I am posting this many pics because some smart alex back in a local forum accused me of editing the pics.
Performance wise, it is still sketchy at best, I am still giving the firmware a test run now. From my newbie POV, what I can discern is some noticable improvements in the internal sharpening process of the camera. The sharpening at Normal level seem more 'realistic' to me now. The new firmware seems to improve on writing speed to the CF card too (or maybe it is just me?). There is another that concern shadow details but I am not too sure if it is right. Not sure if there is any other noticable changes, I will report them as I continue to test the new fw over the weekends.
Not sure if my judgement is right though, this is a rather new cam to me (have it for like 2 weeks or so) so guys, no flames please if I do misjudge any changes above.
In the meantime, do checkout your local Nikon SC, I am not sure if they have this firmware but if they do, just do it because the last one I know is v1.03, a big jump to v2.00 seem quite important I guess.
