And as long as you can still find and read the file:
Will forget to copy any files when you upgrade your PC?
Will the hard drive fail?
How long will a CDR last?
Will software still support jpg or psd files in 20 years?
Will CD drives be found on computers in 2020?
I think digital is wonderful, but I do think we are underestimating how difficult it will be to keep our pictures for generations.
Think about how many images you are going to have in ten years and how large the files will be by then. Sure, hard disks will be bigger and cheaper, but the removable media will no longer be CDR. What are you going to do with all your old CDR's? Probably transfer them to the current media standard. And ten years later (or sooner) you are going to be doing this all over again.
Sort of makes a binder of negatives look pretty attractive
