My SLR film camera collected dust after I bought my first "prosumer" camera simply because I could work with and print my images right now and I did not get back double copies of all my bad shots days later. I started using D1s simply because there is no consumer camera that can keep up with the action. Once you have a D1 in your hands, you will never want to go back. The glass does make a dramatic difference and you do need the "lens" for the shot. If all you want is a still camera go for the CP5000. If you want to capture those special action shots, go with a D1H, Kodak DCS760 or the newest Canon.
