I bit the bullet two weeks ago and laid out the serious change needed to get into the D1X. The camera price was only the beginning and I have already shelled out for two additional batteries,a digital wallet and a few CF cards. Also needed a wide angle lens but "saved " some money by getting the 18-35 rather than the pro 17-35

Obviously it is early days but I am delighted with the camera so far:

Here are my first impressions:

Great feel and "heft" =feels like a serious camera
Shooting learning curve is negligable if you have used a F100 or F5
Digital learning curve is extensive but not overwhelming Most things are pretty intuitive
Images look great but I am still fiddling with the various settings
Biggest postive suprise is that I think this machine with its instant feedback and the capture of extensive shooting info on each shot will really improve my photography skills

Now in the market for a new laptop Will it ever end??
