The 24-85 AFS should work fine, except it has no aperture ring (G-Type > is not BACKward-Compatible).

However, there is a small Problem with the
AF 24-85/2.8-4.0 D IF

If your are using the built-in Flash (F65/F80/D100) of the Camera, and your motiv is below 1 meter, there will be a shadow on your Picture, caused by the "big" lens.

Never the less, I like this lens (AF 24-85/2.8-4.0 D IF), for it is very sharp, and pretty fast.
