You are going to like the IV ED, I think. I wanted to get a new Nikon scanner as early as last year, but was told to wait for the new models and I think that was right. At 2900 resolution and the great software that comes with it, the IV ED is the sensible solution for the amateur or even the pro who wants to keep some of his photos in a reasonable sized digital file. The IV ED comes with Genuine Fractals 2.0 (for "resing" up for very big enlargements) so there is not, in my view, a pressing need to create files larger than the 35 megs the IV creates.
So, hang on until yours arrives. I know you will like it.
