This brings up a real question! According to what I have read at Nikon, the D100 is a close electronic equivalent to the D1.
I cannot say for sure about this except that I have seen less range in my own images. It is purely my opinion. I could be wrong, and I will find out in this way.
I have been shooting Provia for several years now. I am fairly familiar with its range. It is well known that it will handle 5 stops. I will do some images whereby I pit Provia against my D100 and see which one can contain more image range.
My experience with D100 Digital so far is that it blows out the highlights in anything even approaching a 5 stop range. We shall see!
So that I can be accurate in my review, will a few of you D100 users do the same. We must know for sure! Thanks for the question on this matter!
Is it 3, 4, 5, or 6 stops. What can the D100 capture?
