For part of the answer, see my signature. A significant percentage of hobbyists enjoy testing lenses and pushing the limits of available resolution just for the sheer joy of observing physics in action or just setting a "high score."
I don't happen to be one of them, but in my time I certainly dumped enough quarters into pinball machines trying to set my own "high scores." So if I can help them emjoy the hobby in their own way, why not provide the links?
