Based on your comment, I made a call to Authorized Photo Service to get clarification - I have used them in the past on grey market gear and been very satisfied with their work.
Authorized Photo Service says they will fix any Nikon lens and they have no way of knowing where it was originally shipped to and don't care.
This is for non-warranty repairs, just to be clear.
