Thank you Don for the kind words. I enjoy photography as a hobby and enjoy sharing (and giving away)my pictures when someone wants one for some reason.
Many of us, I believe (I know that I do anyway), feel the same way about getting to know the folks on the forum. When you see a post, you will see their Nikonian ID Name in the upper left corner of the post. It will be in blue and underlined. Just click on that ID and their profile will come up. You will see any information that they want to share (like name, where they live, etc., etc). You can also click on their gallery, and equipment (tabs) to see what they shoot with and pictures that they have posted to share.
I feel the same as you...I like to address folks by name, as it just seems more friendly. And this forum is very friendly and professional..99.9% of the time. I also look at the equipment they have and the results they get from it. If they have the same equipment as me and have some interesting pics it makes their comments a little more 'qualfied' for me. But even if some folks do not have much in their galleries or equipment lists I still listen to and consider their points of view.
Also in the profile, and in the upper right section of the post, you can click on icons to send them a personal email or message. I don't like to do that too often but sometimes I do (and others do with me as well). Usually for things that are not quite specific to the thread. There is also a hot link to "recommend" any member (by their ID) who you believe has been helpful to you in a response to one of your questions/issues...or whos response to another Nikonian has helped you.... and you want to recommend them for their helpfullness/opinions.
It takes a little time to get used to the mechanics of the forum but it is a great learning tool and worth it!!
Hope that helps
