THanks for your feedback. I usually use 1 and 2 also, and particularly for landscapes they are the only options. I've also read that using the Live VIew and the "+" button allows you to see close up that distant tree branch and to make it as sharp as possible then switch back to TTL and take the shot all the while in Manual focus. THis is where the f/2.8 shine, not all for the subject isolation but for their speed to allow the AF to work. I just wanted to make sure that what I was experiencing wasn't in my imagination.
