However, that only works because (1) the sensors are smaller than the lens was designed for and (2) the back of the converter can be placed close to the sensor. In the case of a Nikon DSLR, you might be able to meet requirement (1) by using an FX lens on a DX sensor, but you can't meet requirement (2) because the mirror would get in the way.
