That's the reason I sold my 2.8, to heavy. The f4 version seems to fit the bill for my shooting, although with the 2x converter the view finder brightness is not that good under low light conditions. But then again the 2.8 wasn't brilliant either. It's all horses for courses, if you need a 2.8 then that's what you stay with. For me the f4 is just fine.
