Well I went ahead and picked up the Nikkor AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G.
The local Source had it on for $229 but were sold out.
I ended up buying from a local camera shop for $249, spent and extra $20 but they did have one left in stock. I might have saved $20 by ordering on line or going to a store in the city (We are three hours away from the city - Edmonton). So I can say I "shopped local" and supported our local photo-shop. AND I have the lens for tomorrow's shot and for Christmas morning photo's. That's worth the extra $20 in my local merchant's pocket.
I'll take a few practice shots tonight and then I get to give my new lens a good run tomorrow at our Daycare Christmas Party, I'll be the one taking pictures of each child on Santa's knee. My dear wife has agreed to come along as one of Santa's elves to try and get sweet smiles on their faces. I'll see if I have the natural talent to take good photographs of preschool children. Unfortunately policy will prohibit me from posting any images of the children from the daycare.
