Fun question! I carry two bodies. One has the 24-70 on it all the time. I think I can still get it off if necessary some day! And the other is fitted based on what I am doing -- either the 70-200mm f2.8 VR II or the 14-24mm f2.8 is on the other. Conversely, when I am shooting day sports, the 14-24 stays home, or in the car and my 80-400 replaces is AND the 70-200. In other words, I try to anticipate my needs. But to answer your question -- my 24-70 "lives" with me wherever I am going to take pictures. My basic everyday kit is the 14-24, 24-70, 70-200 and a TC14e to turn the latter into a 270mm f4. I also try not to own lenses I don't use. That may mean I soon put a 50mm f1.4 on the market. I thought I needed it -- but other than just playing with it, I have never used it for work. That's my "illogic" and I'm sticking to it!
