I got a Fuji X100 a year ago, and this convinced me that I was not really into zoom lenses. One annoying thing was that the low light performance blew away my D300.
So I sold my D300, 12-24mm and 17-55mm and went to FX with a D600 (wow) and so now I don't have a zoom lens below 70mm, and it's not just for financial reasons that I am not looking for one.
The whole deal with SLRS is changing lenses, no? And with the D600 you can crop a fair bit too. And I love fast sharp lightweight primes. Whatever I choose I can pop a 20mm or 50mm in my pocket, and sometimes bring my X100 along for an easy change of focal length.
