Is VR critical for WA lens?

My opinion is that if what you shoot primarily stays still, then VR is always a valuable tool to have. When I shoot landscapes outdoors handheld, I almost always stop down, so VR is nice to have. When I shoot buiding interiors for my business, I use a tripod, and again stop down, and have no need for VR. But, when I travel and want to shoot interiors of buildings (like the churches or historical buildings in Europe, where tripods are NO GO) I am using wide angle, and VR is a life saver in that situation.
