"Best lens for D600?"

While waiting for my D600 body I am looking at lenses now. Bodies will come and go but lenses will last and last. Anyway, I have a 50mm 1.8 and a 70-300VR already and I am looking for one more. I had a 16-85 on my D300 which I sold and really liked that range. The D600 kit comes with a 24-85 but I am looking at a higher end one.
My shooting is landscapes, some people and general pics. Niagara Falls—MY Favorite!
Other than the 24-85, do any of you have some recommendation?
So far, I am looking at the 17-35 F2.8 or the 16-35 F4 or is the 24-85 just as good for the D600?
I want to get the most out of my D600 when I get it, just waiting for the bugs to get worked out---dust on sensor, etc. No great hurry.
Thanks for any info!
