I just picked up FoCal over the weekend after reviewing some of my photos and noticing that my 24-70 seemed so much softer than then my 70-200. I had run through the tests 3 times (at different focal lengths too) each time starting over from scratch to ensure I wasn't doing anything wrong to have a negative impact on the results. While my 70-200 was consistently -3 @ 70mm and -5 at the 200mm end, I was rather surprised by the 24-70's results. FoCal indicated -16 @ 70mm @ 11.5'
Now, I will say images that I have taken since adjusting with the recommended setting are razor sharp, like hurts my eyes looking at the photo on my iMac sharp, but the question is, does that see way too far out of spec? I would have expected +/- 5 but -16? Would you exchange the lens for a new copy or because it can be adjusted to be perfect, you wouldn't worry about it?
