Well, it doesn't make you lazy. Perhaps it allows you to be lazy, but it sure isn't forcing you to zoom at gunpoint...

Taking you at your own word, I seriously doubt you'd actually use an 85 if you had it. It would be simpler to take a step toward the subject and keep the 24-70 on the camera. If there's anything to be done, arguably the answer would be discard the 24-70 and replace it with a 24-120/f4 - or even a 28-300.
